Grade 11 maths

Simplify cos 980°

Solution:cos 980° = cos (2 × 360° + 260°) = cos 260°

= cos (270° - 10°) = − sin 10°

Practice Questions:

1)Find tan 735°

2)Resolve into partial fractions

Enrich Maths

Enrich maths:

Solve for x: 23x-12 = 3x+10.

Solution:

Given expression is, 23x-12 = 3x+10.

Subtract 3x on both sides, 23x-12-3x = 10

20x-12 = 10

Then add 12 on both sides, 20x = 22

Now, divide both sides by 20, we get,

x =

x =

Mean Deviation

Mean Deviation

In order to find the dispersion of values of x from a central value ‘a’, they find the deviations about a. To calculate the mean need know the sum of the deviations. & number of observations.

Also mean of deviations = Sum of deviations
Number of observations
Find the mean of deviations about mean is not of any use , as far as the measure of dispersion is concerned. Keep in mind find an appropriate measure of dispersion, they need the distance of each value from a central tendency or a fixed number ‘a’. The absolute value of the difference of two numbers give the distance between the numbers when represented on a number line. To find the measure of dispersion from a fixed number ‘a’ then take the mean of the absolute values of the deviations from the central value. This mean is called the ‘mean deviation’. Thus mean deviation about a central value ‘a’ is the mean of the absolute values of the deviations of the observations from ‘a’. The mean deviation from ‘a’ is denoted as M.D. (a). Therefore,

M.D. (a) = Sum of absolute values of deviations from 'a '
Number of observations

Mean deviation obtained from any measure of central tendency. However, mean deviations from mean & median are often used in statistical studies.

Line segment

A line segment:

The directed line segment is also one type of a line segment. The line segment has an exacting direction associated with that line segment, it is called directed line segment. In some cases vector as also directed line segment.
For example:

directed line segment

* In the above line segment figure, let they take AB a line segment.
* A, B are the four finish points on the line, A & B goes to the specified direction along the line.
* The directed line segment is denoted as vec (AB).

Adding radicals

Adding Radicals

The explanation for adding radical numbers are given below,

* The radical numbers are having the numbers functions & also the functions of variables.
* The radical numbers can be able to do all the arithmetic operations that are performed in the mathematical terms.
* The even powers are raised if the given radical numbers containing the terms of square root.
* The odd powers are raised if the given radical numbers containing the terms of cubic root.

Mixed Numbers Defination

Mixed numbers :

A mixed fraction or mixed number has a combination of a whole and an element. Mixed fraction is obtained by dividing the numerator by the denominator in an improper fraction to receive the quotient and the remainder. Then the mixed fraction will be written as,

Quotient = (Remainder / divisor)

Examples :

1 (3 / 4) , 5 (27 / 8) etc.,
Steps for multiplying mixed numbers calculator:
The following steps are used for multiplying mixed numbers,
Step 1: The preliminary step is to write the mixed fractions as improper fractions
Step 2: Make simpler the improper fraction, if it could
Step 4: Write the answer in simplest term
Step 5: Check to be sure the answer makes sense.
